Membership Transaction Terms and Conditions
This General Terms and Conditions of membership is a legal Agreement between you/your organization (“You/Your”), and the North Carolina State Florists Association, Inc., a not-for-profit 501(c)(6) corporation (NCSFA) which sets forth the terms and conditions of membership. You understand that the rights of membership, including the right to identify membership, begin only when You have been notified that your application for membership has been accepted.
1. Definitions:
1.1 NCSFA: North Carolina State Florists Association, Inc.
1.2 Commitment Period: The term you are committing to remain a member of NCSFA from the Start Date of to the commitment period end date of (day of approval + 365 days) (subject to extension if your membership is suspended due to renewal non-payment).
2. Membership:
2.1 By submitting this Membership Application Form the member agrees to comply with these Terms and Conditions and NCSFA’s By-Laws. (current copy available on website)
2.2 You will only be granted access to all the Association’s benefits and website member areas provided your membership is current and fully paid or if you have made payment arrangements acceptable to NCSFA’s current executive board.
3. Membership Categories:
3.1 NCSFA offers two different types of membership which are set out on the printable or online membership application form. Your choice of membership on joining will determine the amount you pay and any voting restrictions that may apply as per section 1.2 below.
3.2 ACTIVE members acquire one (1) vote at members’ legal meetings. ASSOCIATE members may attend these legal meetings but retain NO voting rights.
4. Duration and Payments:
When you join NCSFA you are agreeing to remain a member for the Commitment Period. If you pay for your membership using the online form, the payment method (credit card) that you used will automatically be charged (3 days before) the Commitment Period end date at the stated rate applicable to your membership type. You may choose to deselect the recurring payment option when joining, but it will be your responsibility for renewing your membership at least 5 days before your membership is due to expire. Renewal payments made up to 30 days after the commitment period will incur a $10 late-fee and any late renewals will abide by the initial commitment period term.
5. Termination of Membership:
5.1 Termination by NCSFA
We may terminate this agreement in the following circumstances:
(a) if you commit a serious or repeated breach of this agreement and/or NCSFA’s by-laws, if capable of remedy, is not remedied within 7 days of receipt of a default notice;
(b) If any part of your membership fee remains unpaid 30 days after its due date for renewal, or
(c) If you provide us with details which you know to be false when applying for membership and the false declaration would have reasonably affected our decision to grant you membership.
If we terminate for any of these reasons, we reserve the right to retain a proportion of the money paid under this agreement, to cover any reasonable costs incurred.
5.2 Termination by You
You may terminate this agreement in the following circumstances:
(a) You can give notice to terminate at any point during the Commitment Period but this cannot end your membership before the end of the Commitment Period.
(b) You choose to deselect the recurring payment method and fail to renew your membership within the 30 day late renewal period. If you wish to renew your membership after this 30 day late renewal period, your application will have to be reviewed again by the Executive board and will incur a $20 reinstatement fee along with the set membership category cost of joining.
6. NCSFA By-Laws:
NCSFA may amend the by-laws from time to time in order to ensure the overall longevity of the Association. Temporary amendments (if any) will be displayed on the website. Permanent changes to the by-laws will only be made after a full vote and at will include an online notice at least 30 days prior to inclusion.

Michael Whaley Aifd Cfd has over three decades of experience in the floral industry and has been involved with every aspect during his career. He has a passion for continuing self-education and, more importantly, sharing that acquired knowledge with other designers in the industry. Over the years he has studied with some of the greatest designers in the world including Gregor Lersch, Hitomi Gilliam, Tomas De Bruyne and Per Benjamin among others. Michael has been awarded NCSFA Designer of the Year and Southern Retail Florist Association Designer of the Year. His love of interpretive design led him to The Jim Treadway Cup for interpretive design and after winning this coveted competition three times he was inducted into the Jim Treadway Hall of Fame. He was also a regional representative for Americas Cup, Great American Design Competition. Michael was inducted into the American Institute of Floral Designers and has been heavily involved with programs presented at AIFD National Symposium. He is currently the chairman of the National Education Committee, serves as vice president of the Southern Chapter of AIFD, and is an AIFD certified evaluator/judge. Michael currently works as Creative Director for Fresh Affairs, an upscale wedding and special events studio based in Raleigh, NC.
