Sorry but this fabulous event registration has expired.
Held on Sunday, January 21st, 2018 from 1-4 in the afternoon at the Airport Embassy Suites in Greensboro, the Miniature Workshop was both fun and informative for attendees. Tammy Yow-Russell CFD NCCPF, the Queen of miniature competition, put together the workshop to enlighten attendees about miniature design and what fun they are to create. Twelve bold souls ranging in design experience from 1 month to more than 35 years, we won’t name names…, arrived promptly at the Embassy Suites Hotel. Tammy was well prepared with handouts and brought in some of her miniature designs, both those that won awards and those that were “disasters” in her words. She also provided lots of items to use in the creations. Registrants were asked to create a spaceship or something futuristic to go along with the theme of the 2018 convention. After some time to create the designs, each person presented theirs and said a few words about it. The atmosphere was very relaxed, and somewhat like a reunion for many who were there. The Education Committee provided snacks and small sodas and NCSFA was very gracious to sponsor the room. In Tammy’s words, “It is always so fulfilling to share the things you are passionate about with those who encompass the same curiosities and desire to learn! To explore and experiment in the realms of various designs is very rewarding to all!”

Here’s some great pics grabbed from a cellphone…
Wine Down with GTFA was a great success. Designers had the opportunity to play and choose to create paper flowers, textile inspired jewelry or a candle holder. The projects turned out amazing. Fun mixed with education makes for a great design outing. The little things that are picked up and learned always filter to the daily design routines and benefit us as well as our customers.
We had a new member this evening as well from Great Blooms in Raleigh. Mr. Ben Erwin, excited to meet you and welcome to the GTFA family.
What a great meeting of the GTFA. Thank you to Petal and Oak along with Triangle Catering for their gracious hospitality. Their space and containers are amazing. The people attending were gorgeous too.
Yes, we had a great time ! !
autumn inspirations at mayesh a huge success
On Sunday July 23, 2017 NCSFA presented AUTUMN INSPIRATIONS: a wedding design program at Mayesh Flower Distributors in Charlotte, NC. We got to see lovely designs by our two presenters: Brandi Dennison, NCCPF from Brandi’s Botanicals in Youngsville, NC and Carol Dowd, AIFD from Botanicals in Southern Pines, NC along with our President, Sherri Suttle, NCCPF, who was there on Saturday when they all designed for the program. The program featured designs in 4 color palettes: a purple/cream woodland look; a burgundy/peach look; orange rustic and a fall take on white/green. Many ideas were explored including centerpieces, tablescape ideas, body flowers, flower crowns, arches, circles of love, and of course, bouquets. The designers could use anything available in the warehouse and cooler, so there were many interesting vases and many unique flowers used.
Mayesh is one of our newest sponsors for the upcoming convention. Special thanks go to Todd Smith, General Manager of the Charlotte location. He and his staff were very accommodating and provided a delicious lunch for the attendees and also several goody bags and other prizes that were given away. The grand prize was a paid convention registration that was awarded a couple of times before we found someone who could attend and hadn’t already registered: former DOY Scott Jackson of Botanica Flowers and Gifts in Greensboro.
Many thanks go to our great members who came out to support this event, especially Nelson Simpson AIFD, PFCI, Mary Matherly and Carol Mills of Always & Forever Florist in Madison who represented NCSFA at the registration table. Also in attendance were many other members, including First Vice President Don Holmes, NCCPF. We were happy to have some new faces from the Charlotte and surrounding areas. Many of them are interested in becoming members, attending convention and also attending the upcoming NCCPF Hands-On classes in September.
It was HOT…but overall a wonderful day in Charlotte.
