Recap of the 2019 NCCPF Hands-on School
The graded design was a cascading bridal bouquet made in a holder. The final day of class was more relaxed and students were allowed to utilize their creativity and design floral jewelry. Great creativity!! We had rings, earrings, bracelets, flower crowns, necklaces! Awesome job by all in attendance.

The murmurs of design education is back. This year’s NCCPF hands-on school was another success. The classes were informative and students absorbed the teaching from Instructor Nelson Simpson.

NCSFA Convention 2018 Annuls
What a success! Good people produce good things and this year’s NCSFA Convention was a perfect example. Included are some great pics of a fantastic bunch of members at this year’s convention held at the Embassy Suites in Greensboro, NC.

NC Future Farmers of America Convention 2018
This year’s NC FFA Convention was held at the downtown Raleigh convention center and again, we were able to make our presence known with a beautifully designed booth. A big thanks go out to those who donated their time with the initial setup and also with the four on-stage design presentations where we demonstrated different design techniques from basic to intermediate.

Look to the Future – Convention 2018
It’s that time again. What all association members look forward to after all the hard work during the busy parts of the floral industry season. A time to have fun, mingle with friends and peers, and also a time to learn from others. A time to test your skills in the many competitions offered to members.

Two Lucky Winners
Congratulations to two lucky winners of scholarships to attend the Teleflora Scholarship Academy. Each year Teleflora provides funds to the NC Unit to offer a scholarship to attend the Scholarship Academy. Through auctions at each Unit program, the Unit raises money to provide additional scholarships. Applications are available at each program and remain in effect for two years.

Miniature Workshop Fun and Informative
. . . the Miniature Workshop was both fun and informative for attendees. Tammy Yow-Russell CFD NCCPF, the Queen of miniature competition, put together the workshop to enlighten attendees about miniature design and what fun they are to create. Twelve bold souls ranging in design experience from 1 month to more than 35 years, we won’t name

The GTFA at this Years NC State Fair
What a great turnout for this year’s NC State Fair floral arrangement competitions. This was one of the biggest fundraiser for the GTFA while at the same time picking up some brand new members. A big thanks to Pat Murray and also a big thanks to the crew over at Cleveland Plant and Flower. There were 3 shows with five categories and we have a list of all the winners included . . .

Why North Carolina – An Expose

NC Certified Professional Florist School 2017
The highly acclaimed hands-on design school is a very detailed program where students learn principles and elements of design, design terminology, current design styles, sympathy design, and wedding design. During the course, our students learned proper technique and also learned to execute methods of design skills from beginning forms to other advanced applications.

The 2017 Floral Design Institute Scholarship
LATEST UPDATE: We had 13 total applications received for this scholarship. After board review, this was narrowed down to three, Joseph Barnes, Scott Jackson, and Bill McPhail. At the board meeting on Friday Aug. 11th, the vote came up at which time Bill McPhail left the meeting and did not cast a vote. The board vote was to award the scholarship to Bill McPhail.

Autumn Inspirations 2017
On Sunday July 23, 2017 NCSFA presented AUTUMN INSPIRATIONS: a wedding design program at Mayesh Flower Distributors in Charlotte, NC. We got to see lovely designs by our two presenters: Brandi Dennison, NCCPF from Brandi’s Botanicals in Youngsville, NC and Carol Dowd, AIFD from Botanicals in Southern Pines, NC along with our President, Sherri Suttle, NCCPF, who was there on Saturday when they all designed for the program.

Make Someone Smile Week
One of the NC Unit’s three projects took place July 16-17 in Thomasville, NC. Bill McPhail, NC Unit President, worked with John Herron, Scott Jackson and Derrick Rice to produce 144 “Be Happy” mugs that were delivered, primarily, to Pine Ridge Health and Rehabilitation Center in Thomasville. It is a wonderful experience that brings smiles to many people who may never receive gifts of flowers.

89th State FFA Convention
On June 20-22, 2017, North Carolina celebrated 89 years of excellence with the theme Transform. The annual State Convention is the highlight event of the year for FFA members. It is the culmination of a year’s worth of events where FFA members have the opportunity to celebrate their achievements,

Art in Bloom 2017
The North Carolina Museum of Art’s third annual floral extravaganza. The floral showcase captivated guests with more than 50 designers’ impressive artwork. The both indoor and outdoor event took place at the museum Thursday through Sunday.
